Snowshoeing in Golden, BC
Snowshoeing is a great way to get outdoors, explore our forests, and enjoy some exercise in the fresh air. With lots of trail options to suit all types, Golden, BC is the perfect spot to begin your adventure.
At Kicking Horse Mountain Resort you can enjoy the 2km and 4km loops which wind through the forest just off Palliser Road. These trails are free of charge and snowshoe rentals are available at the Performance Rental Centre located at the base of the resort.
There are more snowshoe trails located at Dawn Mountain Nordic Centre, near Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Their helpful staff will set you up with snowshoe rentals, an easy to read map and directions to get you on your way. Trail fees do apply here, at a minimal cost of $10 per Adult, and $5 per youth, or $25 for the whole family.
Want to get a bit more off the beaten path? Head over to Cedar Lake and the Moonraker Trail System for a truly natural experience. Home to beautiful forests, lakes, and an abundance of wildlife, it's one of our favourite spots. Make your day as long or as short as you'd like by linking the various trails together.
Snowshoes can still be rented from nearby Dawn Mountain or Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, or if you're coming directly from downtown Golden, BC stop in at Higher Ground Sports and grab your rentals there. From Cedar Lake Road, park at the first parking area on your left before the recreation site and check out the large trail map.
